Children's book about grief

These illustrations were commissioned by an American author based in Colorado. She has created a sensitively worded book that addresses the emotions and confusion young children experience when facing the loss of a loved one. The book acknowledges the sadness and then opens the idea of their loved one being ever present in their lives through memories and experiences. The brief was to include a variety of characters of various ages and cultures to allow a wider audience to be able to identify with the process and feelings experienced through grief.

Process: Illustrations were initially ‘pencil’ sketched digitally and positioned with text placement. Once approved with any adjustments made the final illustrations were executed in full colour using digital software.
